When it comes to this topic, I’m not one to start slinging evidence for why you should only receive on the tongue. For the fact is, that the Church does indeed allow for communion to be received on the hand.
I would prefer to avoid giving a critic the opportunity to accuse me of going against what the Church has permitted.
Instead, I prefer to simply point out the blatant reality that:
1. Particles of the Eucharist can indeed be dropped and desecrated. If the Eucharist truly is Christ, why would we not want to do our best to avoid this?
2. Receiving on the tongue is an immediate, educational reminder to everyone on what the Eucharist really is, and inspires a deeper reverence for the sacrament as a whole.
3. Therefore, while communion on the hand is indeed permitted by the Church, receiving on the tongue is the objectively better practice as a whole and should be encouraged as much as possible.
By simply stating this, there can be no arguments against your advocacy, such as “But the Church allows it”, or accusations that one is being a rad-trad.
