On this Feast of Corpus Christi, let’s pray for the 70% of Catholics who do not believe in the true presence.

Honestly, a part of me feels like I can’t blame them.
As a cradle Catholic, I always took this with childlike faith. And while faith is good, I soon found myself unable to answer the questions of unbelievers.

Here are 3 things that helped me fully understand the Eucharist.

1. Father Mike’s Talk (Youtube: The Hour That Will Change your Life)
This talk made me fall in love with John 6. Father Mike beautifully goes through John 6 and explains how Jesus repeatedly and EXPLICITLY insists that “my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.” John 6:55, even losing disciples who could not accept the teaching.
If Jesus meant this metaphorically, he would have cleared it up when the Jews murmured: ““How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” John 6:52
Instead, he doubles down like a CHAD.
2. The Tridentine Latin Mass
My first TLM truly helped me to understand how Eucharist is truly the point of the entire mass.
3. The Jewish Link
Both the Bible in a Year Podcast and my good friend @thejewishcatholic have helped me to understand how the New Testament literally FULFILS the Old Testament. The blatant parallels are so undeniable, and when you understand Jesus as the Passover lamb, (and many more links) it ALL connects and makes perfect sense.

As Archbishop Fulton Sheen says: “The greatest love story of all time is contained in a tiny white host.”
I truly understand that now.

Why am I Catholic?
Because we have the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. And if that’s where Jesus is, then if one cannot fully understand this admittedly hard but true teaching, our response can only be as our first Pope Peter at the end of John 6, “Lord, to whom shall we go?”

Even the famous Pastor Francis Chan has come to realise this, that all the early Christians truly believed that communion is the literal body, blood, soul, and divinity of Christ.
So why shouldn’t you?
