I was having sangrias by the beach with a friend yesterday. Our views on abortion didn’t 100% align, but we could agree on two main things including:
– The Pro-Choice movement disregards the reality of abortion being a traumatic experience that haunts a woman for life.
– The Pro-Life movement disregards how terrifying an unexpected pregnancy is.

We live in an increasingly anti-Marian world that rails against the two things our Blessed Mother embodies:
Virginity & Motherhood

Women today are told that in order to be equal to men, they have to be men.
Aka, having access to abortions on demand, and having “consequence-free” sex. Feminist activists try to convince society that abortion is a quick and easy process, when it is anything but.

And on the other hand, we have children of conservative Christian parents who feel like their parents would murder them if they found out about their “pre-marital ventures”.

We have an environment where a girl’s first reaction isn’t:
“I messed up but I know my parents will have my back”
but most likely:
“My parents are gonna kill me, abortion will erase my mistake”

We live in a culture of death that we have yet to truly transform into a culture of life.

In the meantime, I personally see no prudence in flexing the news with my tongue sticking out saying “TAKE THAT PRO-CHOICERS 😝” when there’s still so much left to do.

I thank God for this move towards the recognition of the sanctity of human life, but this is but a tiny step forward in a world that has taken 10 steps backward.
